2022 Sage School K-12 Changemaker Grants
In the spring of 2022 there were various K-12 Changemaker grants awarded to groups of students who attend The Sage School in Hailey, Idaho.
Alongside their teacher Kaly Spilhaus, a group of 10th and 11th graders created a project with the expertise of the Wood River Land Trust to build seed bombs and create informative posters to place near trail heads to help improve our ecosystem and knowledge of our ecosystem within the community. The students wanted to provide animals with food and shelter as well as drought tolerant plants.
Another group of 10th and 11th graders teamed up with their teacher Amy Morrison and The Advocates to create and distribute "Period Packs" for our community. These packs were created to address the higher prices of menstrual products which for some is not financially feasible. The packs were nondescript paper bags containing menstrual products, reproductive health literature and menstrual health literature.
Some of the other grants awarded to students at the Sage School aided with an Earth Day event put on by Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a Random Acts of Kindness project, and a Healthy Snacks & Meals project benefitting children involved with programs at The Advocates.
