Last year our Youth Philanthropy Initiative students awarded the Kid's Mountain Fund $750.00 to support the Rotarippers program that takes place at Rotarun each winter.
Rota-Rippers is a community supported, tuition-free, learn to ski and snowboard program dedicated to enriching the lives of historically marginalized youth in our community. The program is designed to teach the skills that build confidence, courage, and a lifelong pursuit of winter recreation. 100% of program costs are covered by Rotarun Ski Club, Inc., the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s (SVSEF) Athlete Endowment Fund, the Kids Mountain Fund, and our incredible community partners and donors.
In the first session of 2023, 54 local youth came to Sturtevants to be fitted with their ski and snowboard gear and then headed to Rotarun to have some fun in the snow! Kaz Thea from Kid's Mountain Fund says "We are very appreciative of the grant money we received from the youth philanthropy initiative."
The Youth Philanthropy Initiative is underway for the 4th year and has students at all three of our local high schools reading through grant requests with the goal of awarding money this coming spring.
